Watcombe Torquay Motto Ware Breakfast Trefoil - England. Watcombe Pottery existed for over 100 years producing pottery near Torquay in Devon, England. Through many changes in ownership; 1901 Aller Vale pottery influenced the popular motto ware for the emerging tourist industry. The pigment painted faience scenes, along with birds, like the cockerel, proved popular. The business closed its doors in 1962. This charming biscuit server is rustic with a welcoming saying in each dish of the handled trefoil piece; centered is a cockerel done in heavy glaze which adds dimension to the bird. A curved handle keeps your fingers out of the butter...a clever way to serve your biscuits to friends and family.
Preowned in very good vintage condition with minor shelf wear scratches to underside. No chips or damage. Incised with Watcombe Torquay, Made in England on glazed underside. Measurements approximate - 8.5" W and 2.5" H at the curved handle.
